Butterfly valve is valve with just a round plate with or without a ‘o’ ring to stop/open the flow of liquid. It is used where Pressure of the liquid is low and small leakage is permitted. They are used only in water line, or in Non Hazardous liquids at low pressue in closed circuit system.
Butterfly valves are used to start, stop and regulate flow.
They have a very low pressure drop (very little resistance to flow through the valve).
They are ideally suited to low pressure applications and not suitable for high temperature applications.
They are suitable for high flow applications.
They can be used for low to medium temperature applications.
